Mission Police-Based Victim Services Program

If you are a victim of crime or personal tragedy, we may be able to help you.

Mission Victim Services is a part of the Provincial Victim Services Program. We are a victim assistance program dedicated to providing support to people affected by crime. We are located in the Mission RCMP detachment and administered by the Women's Resource Society of the Fraser Valley. If you are a victim, under the Victims of Crime Act, you have the right to be treated with courtesy and respect, given information about victim services, and given an explanation of how the criminal justice system works.

Mission Victim Services can help you with:

  • coping with the effects of a crime

  • emotional support

  • if you are eligible, applying for criminal injury compensation

  • referrals to other agencies for further assistance

  • information on the status of the police investigation and/or the court case

  • an explanation of what happens in court and help in preparing for the trial

  • preparing a victim impact statement

Emotional Support

Being victimized is an unexpected and unpleasant experience. It is often an emotional time. We provide trained workers to help you identify your needs and support you through this time.

  • emergency shelter arrangements

Court Services

If your situation reaches the trial or hearing stage, you may be required to testify. We can help you feel more at ease by:
